Features?

I'm working on quite a few features on the blog, but what do you, the people of the internet, feel a blog really needs? What would make you go "Honey?!?! Can you get the checkbook?". Inquiring minds want to know...

Hmm, random quote blocks. Option for the user to change font sizes. Color change options. Maybe a blog search feature similar to Blogdex. Blogtags. Send to a friend, Event calendar. Spellcheck for those in the need and a favicon. :)

Quote blocks: What's a random quote block? Font sizes: View > Font Size > Larger :) Color Changer: Separate product :) Blogdex: What's that? The blog has an internal search feature... Blogtags: What are those? Send to friend: doable :) Even calendar: Separate product with it's own mess of problems/features :) Spellcheck: I use an activex control that works with Windows/IE/Word, best I can do... Favicon: People actually use those? That's not a blog feature though... Just an icon loaded to the root of the site :)

I see that you have a "list of links" on your right nav. perhaps that could be editable, maybe with categories. If you also have a "behind the scenes" list of links, with add/edit/delete for links and categories, with sub categories, then you might have a online bookmarks file. You'd never be without your favorite links when you're out of town like I am tonight w/o anything to do but randomly remember sites to waste time. :-)

I suppose that could be handy online. As it stands now, the blog has one template to manage the files, and two "sidebar" files, which are included into the pages. So you can edit the include, update a template... whatever you want to add static stuff... I'll have think on that one, and see if it's worth adding.

Not sure if you've touched on this before, but my guess is that it's got an Access backend. I think it would behoove you to distribute a sql script that would set up the database on a sql server. I know that Access is fine for most things, but some people won't touch it.

The SQL script is actually in the plans :). I might also have a surprise for people who might use a few certain other server models...
