The simple things...
Why is this game so addictive? It's so deceptively simple, yet so very frustrating :). My high score is 2208, although I average about 900 now :)
What amazes me is how addictive these simple games are. I just bought and XBox disc called Namco Museum that includes stuff like Pac-Man, Ms. PacMan, DigDug and Galaga (I love Galaga). The funny thing is I love playing these as much as I do Halo, which is the epitome of high action computer graphics. Too bad I don't have an atari with the Pong paddles any more ;)
JK's doing better...
Got word from JK's mom that he's now in a private room and the doctors think that all of his liver damage can be reversed, so keep those fingers crossed :)
The Culinary Institute
Kris and I had dinner with our 6 best friends at the Western Culinary Institute last night. That's some delicious stuff I tell you. And luckily, Thursday nights are buffet nights (I always find that funny. Gourmet food buffet style). And to add to that, every Halloween, the Thursday before, they have a Halloween theme buffet. Since Halloween was on a Thursday this time we got the full treatment. It also meant that it wasn't near as crowded.
I told people not to get gifts, but do they listen? Nope... (I don't either, but I had to try). So I got a few new movies (Brotherhood of the Wolf, BeetleJuice [in widescreen :)] and Tomorrow Never Dies), as well as Batman for the XBox and some Monkey Soap (don't ask me... I have weird friends).
All in all, another good night. Got my mind off of writing and got to have some wonderful food and wine with friends.
<sad />
One of my good buddies is sick... in a bad way. I found out yesterday that JK from Spider Food is in the ICU with major liver problems. Doesn't even really know where he is apparently. He liked to drink in his younger days (hell, he's under 40) and it's apparently caught up with him.
I've done little today but think about him and hope he pulls through. It doesn't help that his site's server took a major nose-dive, killed by Klez, so I spent the entire day working on his server. I couldn't even escape thinking about him because I was on his site all day :-(.
I didn't think something like this would really bother me as much as it has. My shoulders are tight and my jaw is sore from clenching my teeth all day. I've been tearing up on and off all day (I'm no "macho" man) and haven't been able to think all that clearly. I hadn't talked to him in almost a year, and then he popped online last week to say hi. Took off to call his host because his server was starting to act up, and next I know he's in critical condition. I haven't had to deal with something like this yet, and I have to say it's certainly no fun.
I'm not the religious type, but if you are, I'd ask that you keep JK in your prayers. Here's to hoping he comes out the other side...
