Dvorak, you dog you...
This is my first post to the blog using the Dvorak keyboard layout and so far it's pretty darn painful. My fingers are too familiar with their old home keys and they keep wanting to go back there. However I can already see the benefit of using this layout. I rarely have to take my fingers off of the home keys. So, now that I'm sweating from typing this short post, It's back to the typing tutor for me :).

It's definitely a little painful right now. I don't ever remember typing this slow. :)Eric Meyer wrote on 03/08/05 8:47 AM
Based on the post, it looks like your fingers expect "t" to be where "n" is on the Dvorak keyboard. Good luck retraining!Daniel Short wrote on 03/08/05 8:47 AM
Dang, I thought I had caught all of those :)Jay Grantham wrote on 07/25/05 11:35 PM
I've always wanted to switch over.. just can't seem to work up the guts to do it. :/Daniel Short wrote on 07/25/05 11:35 PM
I've not made the switch entirely either. I still have the stickers on my keyboard but I've been so ridiculously busy that I haven't been able to take the productivity hit to really learn it... Hopefully things will slow down soon and I can actually get back into it.

I switched to the Dvorak layout 7 years ago when I was dealing with repetitive stress symptoms. It takes some time to retrain but it's a lot more efficient. I hate typing at a standard keyboard now. Good luck switching over.
